Manchester Resident's Generous Gifts Puts Smiles on Patients’ Faces at the John A DeQuattro Cancer Center

For the third year in a row, Cindy Moore, a Manchester resident who lost both her mother and uncle to cancer, has delivered gift bags to patients of the Eastern Connecticut Cancer Institute at the John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center.

More than 70 gift bags were donated this year which were comprised of items and gift cards donated by 64 businesses. Most of the businesses who donated are local, but one is as far away as Oregon. Besides the 70 gift bags, Cindy received 100 bags donated by Manchester Pharmacy which included first aid kits, lip balm, hand sanitizers and lotion, and 100 packages with 10 tea bags in each from Stash Tea.

Cindy starts in August by sending a solicitation letter out to the businesses and then follows up by making calls, collecting the donated items and packing the gift bags. She is sincerely grateful to all who took part in the event this year and would like to especially thank Manchester Pharmacy, Stash Tea, the Maid Brigade, Vernon Wood ?n? Tap, People?s Choice and Sadie Green?s Boutique.

?Cindy?s work is impressive,? says Kris Popovitch, Administrative Director of Cancer Services. ?The effort she gives to make sure that all of our patients undergoing treatment receive a gift is incredible. All of us at the cancer center see how touched the patients are and how much her kindness means to them.? Cindy?s genuine concern for each one of our patients is seen in her thoughtout detail of the gifts she provides from area businesses.?
